Today we go hands-on with Cymgard, a very versatile cymbal accessory. I know what you’re thinking.. “An accessory? For cymbals?” You heard it right! Cymgard claims to provide cymbal edge protection, sound dampening, and shipment cushioning. So we wanted to see for ourselves. Rod kindly sent us two versions: the Cymgard Lite, and the Cymgard Standard.

Cymgard Review

Take a look at the Cymgard in action in my review video:

The shipping time was quick and we received simple instructions on how to install the Cymgard. To be honest, it took me quite some time before I managed to install it, but that could have been my lack of experience – as it was rather easy once I got the hang of it. After leaving it on for a couple of hours it took shape to my cymbal perfectly.

The rubber is very strong and durable, and best of all, it doesn’t smell! I even tried stretching the Cymgard out as far as i could and it held intact without breaking or even cracking.

Cymgard

As the website describes, its main function is to provide cymbal edge-protection, sound dampening, and shipment cushioning. I have to say, (with the exception of trying to drop the cymbal on its edge, see here) that Cymgard lives up to its word. It is a great solution for protecting your cymbals.

If you are a drummer who travels a lot, you just want to practice and reduce your sound level, or if you simply need an alternative safe storage solution, then i’d give Cymgard a try. They’re perfectly priced from only $11.95 USD, with the most expensive ringing in at only $29.95 USD.

Check out their sizing chart:
