Practice and Rehearsal. What’s The Difference?

jonmanna Let's Talk

This isn’t meant to be a long post, so I’ll keep it short and to the point. A few days ago I came across an image on instagram from my friend Chris. This is what it said:

Practice is personal. Rehearsal is relational.

Let’s break it up real quick as to what that means for the worship drummer!

Practice

The time when you study the songs. Lock in the groove/feel and tempo. Map out the sections of each song.

Rehearsal

The time when you bring what you’ve practiced and work on blending it together with the rest of the band. Your focus is on serving the song and other musicians. You are already prepared.

Conclusion

Practice is time for me to learn the songs, rehearsal is time for the band to learn to play the songs together.

Question

Does this [really] happen at your church? Leave a comment below and let’s start the conversation!
