The drumming community lost a beloved friend on September 11 with the passing away of Marvin McQuitty Jr. According to drummerworld.com he battled a severe illness.
My memories of Marvin’s playing were mostly from the incredible Fred Hammond days (Pages of Life 1 & 2) but I also had the chance to here him fill in with Israel & New Breed after Chris Coleman accepted another opportunity.
After the show I had the opportunity of chatting with Marvin and he certainly was a humble, God-fearing man.
The family has set up a The Marvin McQuitty Jr Memorial Fund and are now accepting donations.
Our love and prayers go out to his family as they face the reality of losing a loved one.
Marvin, you will be missed!

UPDATE:
Hudson Music has put together the following tribute video
I am sorry to hear about Marvin’s passing. He was a phenomenal worship drummer and a great role model for all of us. He was a blessing to everyone he came into contact with and a blessing for each congregation he played for. Now he’s in Heaven playing drums with the Angels. He will be missed. I pray for strength and peace for his family today.
R.I.P. Marvin
