Several months ago we connected with Robbie from Shakerstix and 2 things became evidently clear: He’s got a heart for God and His church, and he is the brain behind some really cool drum sticks that employ his Shakerstix design. We have been privileged enough to have received all 4 models of Shakerstix to review and I am happy to share my honest thoughts and opinions.

Review of Shakerstix Drum Sticks

Shakerstix Review image

First Impression

I’ve been incorporating Shakerstix into my playing for about 2 months now and have been using them to play in different worship settings and to be honest, I’ve never seen anything as unique as this before. It’s a simple solution to a more complex problem: having an auxiliary sound, while still having only two hands to play with. I like how all 4 models offer something different and unique.

Construction

The sticks (SSRT1, SSMT1, SSBE1) are made of the finest quality maple available, with the look and feel of a traditional 5A wood tip drumstick. Maple sticks are generally softer than my hickory drumsticks but I have yet to snap a stick. They are solid and with the egg shaker fused right to the stick, you can be sure the egg is going nowhere.

I’d recommend using your normal drumsticks for your regular playing, but swap them for some Shakerstix when you need to add some “colour” to your sound.

Functionality

Shakerstix claims that its as if a percussion player was sitting right next to you and they are correct! They work as advertised and really offer you that 2-in-1 advantage.

In this video, you can see all 4 models of Shakerstix, and we discuss its application in a worship setting.

Our Recommendation

With prices as low as $9.95-$14.95, you can’t go wrong with Shakerstix. We love how they add colour to our playing and give us options that otherwise, we would have never been able to consider.
