Mull Over Mondays – Finding Time

Last Monday I shared about what we’ve done in our first month. It’s been a pretty busy few weeks. I know that there haven’t been many posts on WorshipDrummer.ca, and I apologize for being a little quiet.

So what’s been eating my time? Life and ministry. It’s a busy season leading up to Easter weekend and our youth ministry just finished a 30-Hour famine and an all-nighter. I’m catching up on sleep and trying to also have quality time with my wife and the rest of our family.

I haven’t had much time to practice (drums) or to blog either in these last few weeks. Now, if I would be whining, the natural response I would expect is, “hey man, that’s life!” But in reality, it’s sometimes hard to find time for everything and that is why we need to learn to prioritize our lives.

So let me ask you a question: What is the most important thing in your life?

In these past few weeks, I’ve had to wrestle with that question and here is how I’ve prioritized my life (in order of importance):

  1. God
  2. My family
  3. My job (ministering to people)
  4. My hobbies and interests (drumming, blogging, watching the Habs beat the Bruins in round 1 of the NHL Playoffs, etc..)

As you can see, in the thick of it, drumming, as much as I love it, is a (huge) hobby. I don’t make a living playing drums or blogging about it.

Sometimes when we can’t find or create the time, we have to prioritize our time.

Do you agree with my priorities?

Share your priorities in the comments. I’d love to hear what’s most important to you right now and where drumming and practice come in on your list.

    1. God
    2. Family
    3. Serving in Church (mostly in worship, media, host and youth)
    4. College (I dont know how what age people go to college over there but i am only 16, 17 on Sunday 😉 and i know that should be a higher priority.. haa)
    5. hobbies like chilling with friends, photography, chilling out etc.

But church is a massive part of my life, and im there nearly every day serving in different areas, growing in God and putting him first. And also drumming in worship pretty much every week is amazing. i love it. Getting baptised this Sunday, drumming too, and its my birthday! Gonna be the best!!!

Hey Stace! Thanks for sharing your list. Love it!

Happy Birthday (yesterday). How did your baptism go?

        Hey Jon,
        thanks!
My baptism went incredible, God is doing incredible things through me, and i’m so excited what more he is going to do in my life. It was awesome to see my family in church, and its good to know even though they arent saved (yet) that they enjoyed it and are very proud of me!
Its our mid-week even tonight, and i’m incredibly pumped and so expectant. More than i usually am, because the Holy Spirit has just buzzed me since i got baptised! Its incredible!!
